Yuliya Osyka

I am a Ukrainian-American visual artist and illustrator working in New York.

My style is grounded in minimal composition with a bold color palette and is driven by a strong sense of narrative through metaphor. In my work I delve into introspection to reflect on the intricacies of human experience.

Bio:

Born in Dnipro, Ukraine, I have divided my time between Ukraine and the United States since my teenage years.
I graduated from the State Theater and Arts College in Dnipro majoring in Graphic Design and Fine Arts in 2011. In 2015 I earned a BFA in Animation from the School of the Arts Institute of Chicago. Informed by this multidisciplinary background, my practice exists at the intersection of fine art, illustration, and design, combining traditional artistic foundations with contemporary visual storytelling.

Artist Statement:

My practice is grounded in introspection and the premise that experience is fundamentally subjective. My figures are shaped by their own psychological and existential condition. I am interested in constructing psychological portraits that examine how consciousness mediates reality. Through these works, the image becomes less a depiction of external appearance than an articulation of interiority, where identity, perception, and emotional experience converge.

Commerical work:

I maintain an illustration practice alongside my studio work collaborating with clients including Instagram, MasterClass, Facebook, CVS Health among others.
I am also a Design Lead at Gravity Media @ Meta.
