Home
A personal project dedicated to the feeling of home.
For many of us home is no longer a place but rather a feeling, a fleeting glimmer of the familiar and the sacred.
We carry home with us everywhere we go not feeling the pleasant weight of it until a light shines in a certain way, a door opens with a paintfully familiar sound, a bright and zesty taste of borscht sparks a seeminlgy lost memory of what used to be back when we only learned to wonder and wander. And in that moment reality around you fades, the colors become warmer, textures softer, the weight of it all lighter. It’s bittersweet like all time travel should be. We cherish it nonetheless keeping it close inside us and hoping for another moment when we feel home, ourselves.
I went down a memory lane to remember and keep some of these cherished moments as illustrations.
Meeting with your younger self on the train to your hometown.
Opening that “childhood treasures” box that stores birthday cards, diaries, hopes and dreams.
Peeking into your childhood room that now lives only inside your head.
Saying hello to the swallow that used to fly outside your childhood home windows.
Reaching for the magic key that used to open your front door.
Keeping that string around your finger to not forget what was while building something that is and will be.
Having that feeling of rocks falling down your shoulders when you feel home.
Not having that dried leaf in the book but at least having a photo of it.
